These Days Aperitivo Bar

Drinks brand These Days has opened its first bar right on Bermondsey’s famous beer mile. Set under an old archway, the venue has indoor and outdoor space amid its exposed bricks, reclaimed furniture and high ridged ceilings. Swap your usual pint for one of its new spritzes, like ‘The Sundown’ made with blood orange, chinotto and organic white wine, or ‘The Venetian’ with notes of peach. You’ll also find vermouths, negronis and sbagliatos, as well as snacks like cheeses from Neal’s Yard Dairy and charcuterie boards.

About My Father

Robert De Niro might have made the headlines recently for becoming a father again at the age of 79, but he’s also been busy making an aptly named comedy. About My Father revolves around Sebastian (Sebastian Maniscalco), who is urged by his fiancée (Leslie Bibb) to introduce his immigrant father Salvo (De Niro), who works as a hairdresser, to her incredibly wealthy and eccentric family during a weekend gathering. As the weekend progresses, the stark differences between the two families lead to a clash of cultures, ultimately prompting Sebastian and Salvo to realise the immense value of family in every aspect of life.

In cinemas from Friday 26th May

BOOK AHEAD

Dear England at National Theatre

Tickets have just gone on sale for this new play based on – wait for it – England manager Gareth Southgate, played by Hollywood actor Joseph Fiennes. When Southgate took on the England team back in 2016, they had an appalling record in penalty shootouts and expectations were at an all-time low. The play charts Southgate’s ‘gentle revolution’ and the shift in the national team’s culture under his direction. From years of disappointment to making it to the 2020 Euros final, it explores the successes, failures and challenges faced by Southgate. Tickets start from £20.
